Tucked into North Central Austin, Brentwood and Crestview are laid-back, walkable neighborhoods with deep mid-century roots and a strong sense of community. It’s the kind of place where giant oak trees shade the streets, neighbors chat on front porches, and local spots like Brentwood Social House and Little Deli feel like extensions of home. The neighborhoods are equal parts old Austin charm and low-key cool, with quiet residential blocks just steps from some of the city’s best local businesses.

History
Brentwood began as a cotton farm in the early 20th century before transforming into a post-war residential neighborhood during Austin’s mid-century suburban expansion. Most of the homes were built in the 1940s and 1950s, giving the area its signature mix of modest bungalows and ranch-style houses. The neighborhood has maintained its original charm while gradually evolving – thanks to careful updates, modern infill, and a strong sense of community preservation. Longtime residents, mature trees, and original stonework still define much of Brentwood’s streetscape, offering a glimpse into “Old Austin” while remaining connected to the city’s ongoing growth.
